Proceeds from the event will go towards the Michigan Wounded and Returning Warrior Program, founded by Gary Tanner, the 2012 Michigan Veteran of the Year. The program focuses on life-impacting assistance and support for Michigan military families and veterans. The program ensures that 100% of all donations go directly to veterans in need, exemplifying a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have served.

Motor City Veterans Hockey Association has been added as a second charity where 80% of the members are veterans and 5% are still active. They offer individuals with military affiliation a structured environment to play the game of ice hockey, providing recreational therapy and camaraderie for veterans and their families. The program was created to help education, awareness and advocacy for veterans dealing with both physical trauma rehabilitation, as well as recovery from "Invisible Wounds," including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
